🔖 Conversation Outline Sidebar
A compact, collapsible sidebar is displayed on the edge of the page. It lists every conversation turn with the user's prompt as the title and an optional AI reply preview beneath it. Hover to expand, click to jump — navigate long conversations effortlessly.

🎯 One-Click Jump to Any Message
Click any item in the outline to instantly scroll to that message in the conversation. The target message is briefly highlighted so you can spot it right away.

👁 Real-Time Active Tracking
As you scroll through the conversation, the outline automatically highlights the message currently visible in your viewport. You always know where you are.

💬 AI Reply Preview
Each outline item can display a short preview of the AI's response, so you can quickly recall what the conversation was about without scrolling to it. This feature can be toggled on or off in settings.

🌗 Automatic Dark Mode
The sidebar automatically detects whether the AI platform is using a light or dark theme and adapts its appearance accordingly. No manual switching needed.

⌨ Keyboard Accessible
Full keyboard navigation support: use Arrow Up/Down to move between items, Home/End to jump to the first or last item, and Enter/Space to scroll to the selected message.

🔒 Privacy First
AI Chat OutlineMate works entirely locally in your browser. It does not collect, transmit, or store any of your conversation data. The only data stored is your preference settings (via Chrome Storage Sync), which are synced across your Chrome browsers for convenience.

How It Works

Install the extension and visit any supported AI chat platform.
Start or open a conversation. The outline sidebar appears automatically on the right side of the page.
Hover over the sidebar to expand it and see full titles and previews.
Click any item to jump directly to that message.
As you continue chatting, new messages are added to the outline in real time.
Design Philosophy

• Minimal and non-intrusive — the sidebar stays collapsed until you need it
• Zero configuration required — works out of the box on all supported platforms
• Lightweight — no external dependencies, no background network requests
• Shadow DOM isolation — the extension's UI never interferes with the host page's styles or functionality

Permissions Explained

• storage — Used to save your preference settings (enable/disable, preview toggle, sidebar position, language)
• activeTab — Used to communicate settings changes to the current tab
• Host permissions — Required to inject the content script on supported AI chat platforms only

FAQ

Q: Why doesn't the outline appear?
A: Make sure you are on a supported platform and have an active conversation. The outline only appears when there is at least one message in the conversation. Also check that the extension is enabled in the popup settings.

Q: Can I use this on other AI platforms?
A: Currently, AI Chat OutlineMate supports ChatGPT, Gemini, Doubao, Kimi, and Qwen. More platforms may be added in future updates.
