About

STOP SAVING IMAGES AS "IMG_9482.JPG"
Give your downloads the names they deserve—automatically with PicTitle.

Tired of manually renaming images every time you save them from the web? PicTitle is a lightweight, professional utility designed to keep your downloads folder organized without any extra effort.

🚀 HOW IT WORKS
Standard downloads often use random strings of numbers for filenames. PicTitle intelligently scans the webpage around an image to find the most relevant context. It extracts:
ALT-TEXT: The hidden metadata intended for accessibility.
CAPTIONS: The text visible immediately below or above the image.
SMART TRUNCATION: Automatically cleans names and ensures they don't cut off in the middle of a word.

🛠 HOW TO USE
Install the extension.
Right-click any image on any website.
Click "Save Image with PicTitle".
Your file is saved instantly to your downloads folder with a clean, descriptive name!

✨ KEY FEATURES
INSTANT RENAMING: Get titles like "Blue-Mountain-Sunrise.jpg" automatically instead of generic strings.
CUSTOM LENGTH LIMITS: New! Choose your preferred filename length (32, 64, 128, or 250 characters) in the settings.
SMART DETECTION: Prioritizes high-quality metadata for the most accurate names.
LIGHTWEIGHT & FAST: Runs only when you need it; won't slow down your browser.

🔒 PRIVACY-FOCUSED: We don't ask to "read and change your data on every site". We only access the page for a split second when you click the menu item.
Perfect for researchers, designers, students, and anyone who wants a cleaner, more organized digital life.

What's New in Version 3.0:

PicTitle has been completely overhauled with robust error handling,
intelligent filename sanitization, and expanded platform support. This
release introduces smart extraction for Twitter/X, Instagram, Reddit,
Pinterest, and Tumblr, ensuring captions and descriptions are accurately
captured across your favorite social platforms. We've enhanced security
with comprehensive input validation, eliminated filename path issues that
could create unwanted folders, and added support for emoji removal,
lazy-loaded images, and data/blob URLs. The extension now handles edge
cases gracefully—from empty descriptions to corrupted settings—with
detailed logging for transparency. Files are downloaded with proper
lowercase extensions, smart word-boundary truncation, and sanitized
characters to prevent filesystem errors. Version 3.0 delivers a faster,
more reliable, and privacy-focused image organization experience.

Note: PicTitle was formerly known as "Save Image with Description." This update includes a full rebrand and new customization options!
