    DownloadRenamer

Automatically rename downloads to YYYY-MM-DD - Page Title.ext for clean, consistent filenames. Privacy-first.

    Long description

DownloadRenamer automatically renames your downloaded files to a clean, consistent format using the current date and the page title.

Instead of messy filenames like document(3).pdf or IMG_20260211_unknown.png, your downloads become:
    	•	2026-02-11 - Stripe Dashboard.pdf
    	•	2026-02-11 - Project Proposal.docx

    Features
    	•	Automatic renaming using date + page title
    	•	Falls back to hostname when a title isn’t available
    	•	Customizable naming template with tokens: {date}, {title}, {hostname}, {original}, {ext}
    	•	Configurable maximum filename length
    	•	Optional file type filtering (e.g. .pdf, .png, .zip)
    	•	Sanitizes filenames for Windows/macOS compatibility
    	•	Automatically handles duplicate names (adds (2), (3), etc.)

    Privacy-first
    	•	No data collected. Ever.
    	•	No external requests, no analytics
    	•	All processing happens locally in your browser
    	•	Minimal permissions: downloads required, tabs optional (only needed to read page titles)
Rename downloads automatically — and finally get clean filenames

Tired of files like document(3).pdf, image.png, or unknown.zip piling up in your Downloads folder?
