About

Search engines aren’t neutral. Too often, you type a question and only see one perspective. If you want results that reflect Black culture, Black women, dark-skin beauty, or melanated voices, you’ve had to add those terms yourself — every single time.

MelaSeek does that work for you.

Automatically appends your chosen terms to searches on Google, YouTube, and TikTok.

Presets for Beauty, Hair, Founders, and Late Bloomers — or create your own.

Quick ON/OFF toggle in the popup and a full Options page for customization.

Bypass behavior can be turned off in settings for one-off searches (see FAQ).

Lightweight, privacy-friendly: rules are stored locally in your browser (nothing is sent to us).

Why it matters
Representation online isn’t automatic — it takes small tools to center what mainstream search often leaves out. MelaSeek makes that easy, consistent, and automatic.

**Features**

*Auto-append custom search terms (Boolean logic supported)

*One-click presets for quick switching

*Supports Google, YouTube, and TikTok

*ON/OFF toggle + configurable bypass behavior

*No tracking — all processing happens locally

**❓ Frequently Asked Questions**

Does MelaSeek work on every site?
Currently, MelaSeek supports Google, YouTube, and TikTok. We’re planning additional sites (Pinterest, Reddit, etc.) for future releases.

Why do I sometimes have to refresh on TikTok?
TikTok uses a single-page app (SPA) architecture, which means the page doesn’t always trigger the same navigation events extensions rely on. If your first search on TikTok doesn’t include MelaSeek’s appended terms, simply refresh the page once — MelaSeek will then work for the rest of that session. This is a TikTok-side quirk, not a bug in the extension.

How do I bypass MelaSeek for a single search?
Open the MelaSeek popup (or Options page), toggle the extension OFF, then scroll to the bottom of the Options page and click Save. That disables append behavior instantly — you can toggle it back ON the same way when you’re done.

Can I customize the terms that get appended?
Yes. Open the popup or Options page to edit the terms. You can use quotes for phrases and OR to combine alternatives (for example: "Black women" OR "melanin-safe"). Save your changes — they persist in your browser.

Is my search history or data sent anywhere?
No. MelaSeek runs locally in your browser. It changes the text you send to search engines but does not collect or transmit your searches to us.
