About
Learn a language from the videos you already watch. Dual Subtitles for YouTube plays two subtitle lines together – the language you're learning on top, your native language right below. Follow the video and see exactly what every phrase means, in real context, right inside the player. No extra tabs, no separate translator, no breaking your flow. WHAT YOU GET • Two subtitles at once – primary (learning) language over secondary (native). • Make it yours – set a colour for each line and adjust the subtitle size. • One-key toggle: press S to switch between both lines and primary-only. • Copy on pause – pause the video and copy a word, a phrase, one line, or both lines straight to your clipboard, ready to paste into your own vocabulary notes. HOW TO USE 1. Open any YouTube video that has captions. 2. In the player's control bar, click the language button (a globe) and pick your two languages – and, if you like, a colour for each line and the subtitle size. 3. Watch along. Press S anytime to show or hide the second (native) line. 4. To save a word or phrase: pause the video, then select the text or tap a copy button – it goes straight to your clipboard. WHICH VIDEOS IT WORKS ON This extension uses the subtitles YouTube already has, so it depends on the video: • Best on videos with real, human-made subtitles – TED talks, lectures, news, courses and language-learning channels. There you can show any two languages, including a translation into your own language. • On videos that only have auto-generated captions, you can show the spoken language's subtitles, and YouTube's automatic translation into your language usually works too – so you still get two lines. Occasionally a translated line may be briefly empty if YouTube is rate-limiting its translation service; waiting a moment or re-picking fixes it. • The language menu shows exactly which languages each video offers, so you always know before you pick. PRIVACY No accounts, no tracking, no analytics, no servers. The extension reads YouTube's existing caption data on your device, copies to the clipboard only when you ask it to, and stores just your own settings. It sends nothing anywhere.
