Data Storage

All capture data is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API. Screenshots are stored as base64-encoded JPEG images.

The extension requests the `unlimitedStorage` permission to support large capture libraries; this does not change where data is stored (it remains local to your browser).

Privacy

PageVault is designed to keep your research local:
- No accounts required
- No analytics or tracking
- Capture data (URLs, notes, tags, screenshots) stays in your browser
- License activation contacts our Cloudflare Worker only to verify payment and return a signed token
- If you enable external resources for archived views, your browser may fetch images/styles from the original site
