About

✨ See the narrative, not just the news
Ever read an article and feel a vibe—a slant, an angle, a drumbeat—yet there’s nothing obviously untrue? This extension turns that feeling into something you can point to. It analyzes any news article you open and surfaces the narrative choices that shape what you’re reading, so you can understand how a story is told, not just what’s said.

🔎 What it reveals
• Framing & Story Archetypes — conflict, hero/villain, crisis/resolution, horse-race, “trend” pieces.
• Language Signals — charged adjectives, hedging (“could,” “may”), speculation, scare quotes.
• Sources & Voices — who’s quoted, who’s paraphrased, and who’s missing.
• Claims vs Evidence — separates assertions from data, flags stats without context.
• Context Windows — timelines, definitions, background you’d expect but aren’t given.

🧭 How it works
1️⃣ Open a news article.
2️⃣ Click the extension and press “Analyze Article.”
3️⃣ A popup shows Narrative, Techniques, and Groups so you can grasp the framing at a glance.

💡 Why it matters
• Name the nudge — recognize emotional and rhetorical cues without getting swept up.
• Read faster, think clearer — zero in on framing in seconds.
• Better conversations — explain why a piece feels slanted using specifics, not vibes.

👥 Who it’s for
The everyday reader: see the frame, resist the nudge, choose your own conclusion.
Also great for students, journalists, researchers, librarians, debate teams, and anyone who teaches or practices media literacy.

⚖️ Not a fact-checker
No truth verdicts, partisan “bias” scores, or “other side’s” narrative. It reveals narrative construction so you can decide what to trust and what to verify.

🧰 Key features at a glance
• Popup analysis with three focused sections: Narrative, Techniques, Groups
• Language Signals (loaded terms, hedges, intensifiers)
• Works on most major news sites

🔒 Privacy & permissions
• Runs when you click the button on the page you’re viewing
• Only analyzes the current article’s content
• No account required

📝 Tips
• Compare coverage — run it on two or three outlets covering the same event to see how narratives diverge.
• Spot headline heat — if the headline feels hotter than the body, the cues explain the mismatch.
• Notice your reaction — if something lands strongly, the highlights can show which cues might be contributing.

📍 Where it works (and where it doesn’t)
• Best fit: straight news reports where the apparent aim is to inform, not persuade.
• Not supported: opinion/columns, editorials, and other pieces where argument and voice are the point.
• Very long articles: analysis may be limited on unusually lengthy pieces.
• News aggregators: These sites often show partial or repackaged content—open the story on the original publisher’s site, then click Analyze Article.
• Before you analyze: close paywalls, pop-ups, cookie/GDPR banners, or newsletter modals so the article text is visible.
• If results look totally off: hit Clear Cache and run it again.
