YouTube's hover-to-preview feature now plays audio automatically — even when you're just scrolling through your feed. YouTube Audio Stop puts an end to that by silently muting every hover preview on the homepage, so you can browse in peace.

**How it works**

When you visit the YouTube homepage, this extension automatically detects video previews that play on hover and mutes them before you hear a thing. It doesn't block or remove the previews — you still get the visual preview, just without the surprise audio.

The extension uses multiple layers of protection to make sure YouTube can't sneak audio through:

• Newly created preview videos are muted the instant they appear in the page
• Property-level overrides prevent YouTube's own code from turning the volume back up
• A lightweight background check runs every second as a safety net

**What it doesn't touch**

YouTube Audio Stop only affects hover previews on the homepage. When you click on a video and actually want to watch it, audio works completely normally. The main YouTube player is never interfered with.

**Simple on/off toggle**

Click the extension icon in your toolbar to open a small popup with a toggle switch. Turn the extension off whenever you want to hear hover previews again, and back on when you don't. Your preference is saved automatically.

**Privacy-first**
