About

Scroll4Me is an experiment disguised as a protest tool. Instead of making you scroll endlessly, it scrolls for you. Turning a mindless habit into a playful critique.
By using AI to filter, slow down, or twist content streams, Scroll4Me shows that digital timelines don’t have to be addictive by design. It highlights how much of our time is lost to irrelevant posts and how this constant stream of distraction feeds digital brainrot. At the same time, it opens up space to imagine alternatives: timelines that serve us, rather than the other way around.
Scroll4Me is not a product, but a statement. It’s a way to make the invisible mechanics of social media visible and to spark reflection and conversation about healthier, more autonomous ways of being online.

How it works
Tell Scroll4Me what platforms you use and how much time you usually spend scrolling.
Pick the topics you actually care about; sports, friends life updates, events ect.
Then, sit back, Scroll4Me will scroll through your feed for you, collect the public posts from your timeline, and let AI decide which ones are genuinely worth your attention.
The result: a feed filtered for meaning, not mindless brainrot.

Open Source
Scroll4Me is built in the spirit of open source: transparent, shareable, and made to be remixed. The full code is available on GitHub, inviting others to explore, adapt, and contribute. The project is proudly supported by SIDN Fonds, who help make experiments in digital well-being possible.

Design Principles
🕹️ Control
You stay in charge. Scroll4Me doesn’t decide for you. You decide what matters. By selecting your interests and guiding the AI, you create a feed that reflects your focus, not an algorithm’s agenda.
🔒 Data privacy at its core
Scroll4Me only uses publicly available posts and stores your focus profile locally on your own computer. Nothing is sent or sold. Full transparency: you can even see the exact AI prompt used to filter your feed.
🌍 Impact on you and the planet
Less scrolling means less wasted time and less wasted energy. Every hour you don’t scroll saves both your attention and a little bit of CO₂. The AI runs only a few lightweight requests, using far less energy than endless doomscrolling.
