About

Social media has been making us more angry, more distracted and generally less happy so it can help both our productivity and happiness to stay off, but these sites are purposefully addicting. With engineers optimizing algorithms that are designed to keep you on, it is incredibly difficult to get off, so we find our hours being lost and productivity decreases. That's where we step in. 

▶ What We Do

In essence we are a distraction blocker for Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube to help with your unplugging or digital detoxing needs. Clarity will automatically hide distracting elements like messages or comments (check ▶Features for a full list), so you can add more resistances to using these sites and help you achieve your goals. Whether you are getting off social media entirely, reducing your time on these apps or increasing your productivity, we have an extensive suite of settings and features to help. 

Just download, configure settings within seconds, and browse. 
Currently we support Facebook, Twitch, Twitter/X, and YouTube.

▶ Safety 

We require permission to view and change data on certain pages (e.g. Facebook, Twitter and YouTube), so we can hide distractive elements and do our job at reducing distractions. However, we will never collect your data.

To ensure your data is protected we will never ask for sensitive information like name, email, phone number or the like, and do not require any logins. Also, our extension has no servers or databases, everything runs locally so your data never leaves your computer when using Clarity. With no sensitive information needed, and no server to store your data, Clarity is incredibly secure.

▶ Sustainability

Further benefits of localizing the extension are reducing costs. Our operating costs are virtually zero, with no servers and no websites, we have no recurring costs. This ensures we can keep the extension up and running at no cost to you, so the extension and all future updates/features will remain free!

Noticeably, the downside of localizing our extension is that the models which classify political bias will take up your computing resources (such as CPU time and memory) as your device will process the models rather than a typical server. If you struggle with running our models or wish to not use it, you can disable all our models in settings.
