WHAT IT DOES

★ Hiring Alerts — Instantly see whether the client has already hired, is interviewing, or if your proposal has been submitted. Color-coded green/blue/orange/red badges make job status readable at a glance.

★ Client Badges — Automatically classifies clients as Veteran, Seasoned, or New based on account age and hire count. Spending and hire rate badges help you quickly assess reliability.

★ Job Activity — View proposals submitted, invites sent, unanswered invites, and interviewing count in a clean layout. Client timezone is highlighted so you never miss time-zone differences.

★ Client History Analysis — Deep-dives into a client's completed jobs: identifies repeat freelancer hires, flags low feedback ratings (below 5.0 stars), and highlights jobs completed without feedback.

★ Currently Hiring — See all other open job postings from the same client without leaving the page.

WHAT DATA IS ACCESSED

Better Up reads ONLY publicly visible information from Upwork job posting pages you actively visit:
• Client name, location, and 'member-since' date
• Total jobs posted, total spent, hire rate, and open jobs
• Rating, reviews, and hiring stats
• Job activity (proposals, invites, interviewing counts)
• Skills/requirements listed on the job posting
• Client's past job history (titles, freelancer names, ratings, feedback)

It does NOT access your Upwork account, login credentials, private messages, financial information, or any data from non-Upwork websites.

• activeTab — Lets the extension interact with the Upwork job page you're currently viewing when you click the extension icon.

• scripting — Required to read the publicly visible client data from Upwork job pages and extract hiring stats, feedback, and job history.

• storage — Saves your preferences (theme choice, settings, agreement acceptance) locally in Chrome's sandboxed extension storage. No Upwork or personal data is sent to any server.

• Host permission (upwork.com/jobs/*) — Required for the content script to auto-extract client data when you visit a job page. Restricted to ONLY Upwork job posting URLs — cannot access any other website or Upwork page type.

• Host permission (script.google.com/...) — Used exclusively by the built-in feedback form. When you submit feedback, your message is sent to this endpoint to create a support ticket. No Upwork data is ever transmitted to this endpoint.

ANALYTICS & PRIVACY

Better Up sends a single anonymous "popup opened" event to Google Analytics each time you open the popup. This uses a randomly generated install ID — never your name, Upwork data, or browsing activity. You can opt out completely by uninstalling.

When you submit feedback through the built-in form, your message, email, feedback type, screenshots (if any), browser info, and extension version are sent to a secure server to create a support ticket. No Upwork data is included — only what you explicitly type and attach. This is the only other external transmission.

All extracted Upwork data stays in your browser's sandboxed extension storage and is never transmitted to any external server.
