Perched regally on a dark, rough-textured surface against a plain light background is the distinctive Eurasian Hoopoe (Upupa epops). This bird is instantly recognizable by its striking orange-cinnamon plumage, which covers the head, neck, and breast. The most arresting feature is the spectacular crest of feathers, tipped with black, which the bird can raise or lower, though it is currently partially fanned. The wings and tail are boldly patterned with broad bands of contrasting black and white, a striking visual cue during its undulating flight.
