Gathered at the edge of a pond, with two individuals actively feeding on the grassy bank, these large waterfowl are identified as Ruddy Shelducks (Tadorna ferruginea). The two birds facing the foreground display the species' characteristic rich, rusty-orange to chestnut-brown plumage across their bodies, which contrasts slightly with the paler, buff-colored head and neck. The central bird, seen from the rear, displays a beautiful flash of white and grey on the secondary wing feathers, often revealed during preening or flight.
