About

Shelf is a local-first Chrome extension for saving visual inspiration from the web.

Save screenshots, selected areas, page elements, and text quotes into your own private inspiration library. Organize each item with a title, description, URL, tags, categories, and collections, then browse everything in a clean minimal grid.

Shelf stores your library locally in the browser using IndexedDB. You can also choose a local folder to save items as PNG images with JSON metadata files, so your inspiration archive stays on your own machine.

Features:

Save the visible page as a screenshot
Select and save a custom area
Pick and save a specific page element
Save selected text as a quote card
Organize items with tags, categories, and collections
Search, sort, and filter your saved references
Edit saved item details
Export and import your library as JSON
Export an HTML index
Detect likely duplicates
Optional local folder saving as PNG + JSON
