About

Every time you open a new ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or Perplexity conversation, you probably re-type the same context: who you are, what you're working on, how you want answers formatted, what tools you use. Preamble keeps that context in one place — pick what's relevant for this conversation, copy it as a clean prompt prefix, paste, go.

WHY IT'S USEFUL
You spend less time re-explaining your background and more time getting useful answers. Your prompts stay consistent across tools. Switching between ChatGPT and Claude for the same task doesn't mean rebuilding context from scratch.

HOW IT WORKS
1. Click the Preamble icon (or press Ctrl+Shift+M / Cmd+Shift+M). The side panel opens.
2. Add memories — short text snippets in six categories: Identity, Projects, Preferences, Tools, Writing style, Other.
3. When you start a new AI chat, open Preamble, click to select the relevant memories, hit "Copy as prompt." Your context lands on your clipboard, formatted with clean section headers.
4. Paste at the top of your new conversation. Type your real question after the separator.

PRIVACY-FIRST
- 100% local. Your memories never leave your computer.
- Zero outbound network requests. No analytics, no telemetry, no tracking.
- No accounts, no sign-up.
- No advertising.
- No host permissions — Preamble cannot read or modify any website.

WHAT'S NOT IN V1
- Auto-injection into chat input fields (coming in v1.1 — for now it's copy/paste)
- Semantic search across memories
- Auto-extraction of new memories from past conversations
- Cloud sync
