Video Saver is a powerful and lightweight tool designed to help you download standard HLS (m3u8) streaming videos and direct video files (such as MP4, WEBM, MKV) from web pages. 

Many modern websites deliver video in small fragmented chunks to optimize streaming. Video Saver automatically detects these fragments, downloads them concurrently, and seamlessly merges them into a single, playable video file directly on your local machine.

IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING YOUTUBE:
In strict compliance with the Google Chrome Web Store Developer Program Policies and YouTube's Terms of Service, this extension CANNOT and DOES NOT download videos from YouTube. It is technically restricted from processing YouTube's proprietary streaming architecture. 

WHY WE NEED THESE PERMISSIONS:
To provide this functionality, Video Saver requires the following permissions:
- "webRequest" & "host_permissions" (<all_urls>): Strictly necessary to monitor network traffic to detect m3u8 manifests and video content-types, and to bypass CORS restrictions when fetching video segments from third-party CDNs.
- "downloads": Required to save the finalized video file to your local computer.
- "offscreen": Required to process and merge large video files in the background without crashing the browser due to memory limits.
- "tabs": Used to read the title of the active tab to suggest a relevant filename for the downloaded video.
- "storage": Used to temporarily store the video manifest URL for the current session.
