About

You just hit Send. Then you see it. Wrong recipient. Missing attachment. No subject line.

We have all been there. Gmail sends instantly. There is no built-in "Are you sure?" step. By the time you notice the mistake, the email is already in someone's inbox. Undo Send gives you a few seconds, but only if you catch it immediately.

One wrong email to a client, a boss, or the entire company - and you spend the next hour writing an apology.

WHY EMAIL MISTAKES KEEP HAPPENING

The problem is not carelessness. It is speed. You write dozens of emails a day. You reply, forward, CC people, attach files - all on autopilot. Gmail's compose window does not ask you to pause and review before sending.

- Wrong recipient selected from autocomplete
- Forgot to attach the file you mentioned
- Empty subject line on an important thread
- CC'd someone who should have been BCC'd
- Sent from the wrong email address
- Replied to all when you meant to reply to one

These mistakes happen because there is no checkpoint between "compose" and "send." This extension adds that checkpoint.

WHAT THIS EXTENSION DOES

Gmail Send Checklist intercepts the Send button and shows a clear confirmation dialog before your email goes out. It displays the key details of your message so you can review them at a glance:

Review dialog - When you click Send, a modal appears showing your From address, all recipients (To, CC, BCC), the subject line, and attachments. External domain recipients are highlighted in a different color so you can spot them instantly.

Configurable send delay - Set a countdown timer (default 3 seconds) before the email actually sends. During the countdown, you can cancel with one click or press Escape.

Autocomplete safety - Control Gmail's email autocomplete behavior. You can disable autocomplete for external domains (prevents accidentally selecting the wrong person) or disable it completely.

Keyboard shortcuts - Press Ctrl+Enter (or Cmd+Enter on Mac) to trigger the checklist. Press Escape to cancel. Press Enter to confirm. Everything works without touching the mouse.

HOW IT WORKS

1. Install the extension and open Gmail.
2. Compose an email as you normally would.
3. Click Send (or press Ctrl+Enter).
4. A confirmation dialog appears showing recipients, subject, and attachments.
5. Review the details. External recipients are highlighted so they stand out.
6. Click the send button in the dialog (or press Enter) to confirm.
7. If something is wrong, click Cancel (or press Escape) to go back and fix it.

That is it. One extra step that catches mistakes before they happen.

WHY A CONFIRMATION DIALOG INSTEAD OF JUST A DELAY

Gmail's built-in Undo Send only works if you happen to notice the mistake in the first few seconds. It does not show you what you are about to send.

This extension shows you the actual content of your email - who it is going to, what the subject says, what files are attached - before it leaves your outbox. You make an informed decision to send, not a reactive scramble to unsend.

REAL SCENARIOS WHERE THIS HELPS

Replying to a client thread:
You are deep in a conversation with a client. You hit Reply All, type a quick response, and almost send it - but the checklist shows your internal colleague is still CC'd from an earlier message. You remove them before sending.

Sending a proposal with attachments:
You mention "please find the attached proposal" in your email. The checklist shows zero attachments. You go back, attach the file, and send it properly.

Emailing from the wrong account:
You have a work account and a personal account. You compose a professional email but the checklist shows it is going from your personal Gmail. You switch the From address and avoid an embarrassing mistake.

Accidental Reply All:
Someone sends a team-wide announcement. You want to reply just to the sender, but you accidentally clicked Reply All. The checklist shows 47 recipients. You cancel, switch to Reply, and save yourself from an awkward moment.

Late-night emails:
It is 11 PM and you are clearing your inbox. You are tired, typing fast, and not double-checking anything. The checklist forces you to pause for three seconds and look at what you are about to send. That brief pause catches the errors your tired brain missed.

HR and legal communications:
When the wrong email goes to the wrong person, the consequences are serious. The checklist adds a verification step for every outgoing message, creating a habit of review.

AUTOCOMPLETE SAFETY

Gmail's autocomplete can be dangerous. You start typing "John" and it suggests "John (client)" instead of "John (colleague)." One wrong selection and confidential information goes to the wrong person.

This extension gives you three autocomplete modes:

Enable all - Gmail's default behavior. Autocomplete works normally.

Disable external domains - Autocomplete suggestions from outside your email domain are blocked. Internal contacts still appear.

Disable completely - No autocomplete at all. You type every address manually.

Choose the level of safety that fits your workflow.

SETTINGS

Open the extension's options page to configure:

- Send delay: Set the countdown timer from 0 to 10 seconds. Default is 3 seconds.
- Autocomplete mode: Choose between the three modes described above.

Settings sync across your Chrome browsers via Chrome's built-in storage sync.

WHAT THIS EXTENSION DOES NOT DO

- It does not read, store, or transmit the content of your emails.
- It does not access your Gmail account beyond the compose window.
- It does not track your behavior, collect analytics, or send data to any server.

The only permissions it uses:

- storage - To save your preferences (send delay, autocomplete mode) and sync them across browsers.
- Host permission (mail.google.com) - To intercept the Send button and display the confirmation dialog in Gmail.

No account needed. No cloud service. No tracking. Everything runs locally in your browser.

COMPLETELY FREE

The core checklist feature is free with no limits. Every email gets a confirmation dialog. No daily caps, no feature restrictions, no trial period.
