1. Install the extension and open Gmail. 2. Click Compose. 3. Click the teal Templates button next to Send. 4. Save your first template, optionally with a //shortcut alias. 5. Type //yourshortcut in any future draft and press Tab to expand.

FAQ

Does Smart Templates upload my emails anywhere? No. Templates live in chrome.storage.local on your computer. The only outbound network call is the optional AI rewrite endpoint, and that only sends the snippet you select.

Does the //shortcut expansion conflict with Gmail autocomplete? No. The expansion runs on Tab key only when the preceding text matches a saved //shortcut. Normal Gmail autocomplete is untouched.

Which Gmail interfaces does it support? Standard Gmail compose, popout compose, reply, and forward dialogs in the new Gmail UI. Works on personal Gmail and Google Workspace accounts.

Can I sync templates across multiple computers? Cloud sync is a Pro Pass feature using chrome.storage.sync. Free users can still export and import templates as JSON between machines.
