TailsAbode: Virtual Pet for Kids

About

TailsAbode is a virtual pet companion that lives in the corner of your browser. 
Children care for a dog or cat — feeding, playing, brushing, teaching — while 
learning real animal welfare skills through 10 interactive lessons and quizzes.

HOW IT WORKS

Your pet appears as a small animated character on every web page. Its hunger, 
happiness, and energy change over time. Open the popup to check its stats, 
interact with it, and keep it thriving.

Neglect your pet for too long and it becomes sad. Take good care of it and you 
unlock the adoption path — a milestone that celebrates responsible pet ownership.

LESSONS & QUIZZES (10 topics)

Each lesson takes about 2 minutes and ends with a quiz:
- Feeding 101 — what pets can and cannot eat, how often
- Fresh water — why hydration matters
- Daily exercise — how much activity each pet needs
- Grooming — brushing, bathing, nail care
- Vet visits — why regular check-ups save lives
- Safe spaces — how to give a pet a calm home
- Reading body language — what tail wags and ear positions mean
- Puppies and kittens — special care for young animals
- What pets feel — empathy and emotional wellbeing
- Adoption responsibility — what it truly means to adopt

PARENT DASHBOARD (optional, free)

Parents can pair the extension to a dashboard at kids.tailsabode.uk to:
- See which lessons their child has completed
- Monitor pet care activity and progress
- Review lesson scores

Pairing is opt-in and requires a parent account. No data leaves the device 
without explicit parent approval.

PRIVACY & SAFETY

- All gameplay data is stored locally on the device (chrome.storage.local)
- We do not collect browsing history or read page content
- No advertising. No third-party tracking. No in-app purchases.

PERMISSIONS EXPLAINED

The extension requests access to all websites only to display the pet overlay 
in the browser corner. It does not read, store, or transmit any web page content.
