SnapIndex turns screenshots into a searchable visual memory.

Capture screenshots, extract text with on-device OCR, annotate, export to searchable PDF, and find any word later — all from Chrome.

    📸 Capture screenshots your way

SnapIndex supports four capture modes built for real work:

Visible area — capture the current viewport.
Scrollshot / full-page screenshot — capture a long screenshot of the current page, including many lazy-loaded or scrolling pages.
Area select — drag around exactly the section you need.
Click sequence — record a user-started multi-step screenshot flow as one ordered capture, ideal for bug reports, walkthroughs, onboarding docs, and support notes.

🔎 Make screenshot text searchable with OCR

SnapIndex runs OCR locally in your browser, so text inside screenshots becomes copyable and searchable.

    Extract text from screenshots.
Copy text from images without uploading OCR text to SnapIndex servers.
Works with visible screenshots, scrollshots, area captures, and click-sequence captures.
OCR runs on-device using browser WebAssembly.

    🔍 Search inside your screenshots

Most screenshot tools save images. SnapIndex makes them searchable.

SnapIndex builds a private local text index so you can search by words found inside your screenshots, not only by filename.

Find a quote, price, name, code, error message, or note across your saved captures.
Filter by site, capture type, date, or tag.
See highlighted snippets so you know why a result matched.

    📄 Export searchable PDFs

Turn screenshots into PDFs with an OCR text layer, so the exported file can be searched and copied in compatible PDF viewers.

    Export screenshots as searchable PDFs.
Combine click-sequence captures into a single multi-page PDF.
Turn visual captures into searchable documentation.
Supports multilingual text rendering for many common writing systems.

    ✏️ Annotate before you share

Use the built-in editor to mark up screenshots without opening another app.

Add arrows, rectangles, free-hand notes, and text labels.
Blur or highlight areas before sharing.
Add numbered step badges for walkthroughs.
Crop, undo, and redo while keeping your workflow simple.

    ☁️ Optional Google Drive backup

Google Drive backup is optional and user-enabled.

When connected, SnapIndex uses the limited drive.file scope to create and manage SnapIndex backup files in your Google Drive. SnapIndex does not request broad Drive access and does not use Drive to read unrelated files.

Backed-up captures can include the screenshot/PDF and metadata needed to restore your library on another device.

    🔒 Private by design

    SnapIndex is local-first.

Screenshot images, OCR text, and page content are not sent to SnapIndex servers.
OCR and image processing run in your browser.
Cross-device library sync is optional and syncs metadata only, such as URL, title, timestamp, capture type, and Drive file ID.
Google Drive backup is optional and uploads only to the Google Drive account you connect.
You can export, delete, disconnect Drive, or disable sync at any time.
