About
Study Guard is a simple, no-nonsense focus tool. Add the sites you want to allow (Google, Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, NotebookLM, or anything else you choose) — everything else gets redirected to a destination of your choice, such as your school portal, your task list, or any URL you pick. FEATURES • Whitelist mode — by default every site is blocked except the ones you explicitly allow • Custom redirect — pick any URL as the destination blocked sites get sent to • Instant redirect option — skip the block page and jump straight to your destination • Optional max-volume alarm — an ear-splitting siren plays on the block page as an extra deterrent • One-click toggle — turn the guard on when you sit down to study, off when you're done • Zero tracking — everything runs locally in your browser, nothing is ever sent to a server WHO IT'S FOR • Students who lose hours to social media during study sessions • Remote workers who need distraction-free deep work blocks • Anyone trying to build better browsing habits HOW IT WORKS 1. Click the shield icon in your toolbar 2. Open settings (⚙) and customize your allowed sites and redirect URL 3. Toggle the guard on when you start working 4. If you try to visit a blocked site, you're instantly redirected — no willpower required PRIVACY Study Guard does not collect any data. No analytics, no telemetry, no tracking. Your whitelist and settings are stored locally in your Chrome profile using the browser's built-in storage. Full privacy policy: https://finnjclancy.github.io/study-guard/ PERMISSIONS • "tabs" — to detect when you navigate to a new URL and check it against your whitelist • "storage" — to save your settings locally • Host permissions on all URLs — required so the redirect works on any site you might visit OPEN SOURCE Source code: https://github.com/finnjclancy/study-guard
