About
WebTrim lets you permanently hide any element on any website. No more AI Overviews on Google search, no more sponsored posts on LinkedIn, no more banners and sidebars on news sites. You hide it once and it stays hidden, every time you visit. Everything is stored locally on your device. No account, no backend, nothing sent anywhere. HOW TO USE Click the WebTrim icon in your toolbar to open the popup. You will see the domain you are currently on and the rules saved for it. Hiding by clicking: Press "Pick an element to hide", then click any part of the page. The element disappears immediately and a rule is saved for that domain. On your next visit it will already be gone, including elements that load dynamically after the page opens. Hiding by text: Type a word or phrase into the text field and press Add Rule. Any element containing that text on that domain will be hidden automatically. This is useful for labels that repeat across different pages, like "Sponsored", "AI Overview", "Promoted" or "Advertisement". You can also use the quick-add chips that appear below the input for common suggestions on sites like Google, LinkedIn, and YouTube. Managing rules: Open the popup on any site to see all rules saved for it. You can toggle a rule off without deleting it, or delete it entirely. The "Show Hidden" button temporarily reveals everything the extension is hiding on the current page, useful if something disappeared that you did not expect. THINGS WORTH KNOWING Rules are per domain. Hiding something on google.com only affects google.com. The extension works on dynamically loaded content. Elements injected after the initial page load, such as those on infinite scroll pages or React and Next.js apps, are caught automatically. On sites with strict content security policies such as GitHub or banking sites, hiding still works. The extension uses a privileged CSS injection method that bypasses those restrictions. PERMISSIONS storage: saves your rules locally on your device activeTab: reads the current tab URL so rules are applied to the right domain scripting: injects CSS to hide elements, including on strict CSP sites host permissions (all URLs): required so the extension can run on any website you choose to use it on PRIVACY Nothing leaves your browser. There is no account, no analytics, no tracking and no data collection of any kind. The full privacy policy is linked below.
