What it does

Keep last N messages (default 10).

Auto-prune on new turns or Prune now on demand.

Auto reload when an answer finishes (optional) to clear buildup while keeping the latest reply visible.

Duplicate & close original: reopens the current chat in a fresh tab to reclaim memory.

Preserves code blocks, edit buttons, and normal UI behavior.

Why it helps

Very long threads accumulate thousands of DOM nodes and style rules. Pruning older turns reduces layout/paint work and memory pressure—especially once you pass ~200 messages.

Safe by design

Does not delete your chat history. It only removes nodes from the current page. Refresh to see the full thread again.

No data collection. No analytics, no external requests—everything runs locally.

Minimal permissions. Only ChatGPT domains and storage for your settings.

How to use

Install and open ChatGPT.

Click the extension icon to set Keep last N and toggles.

It auto-prunes; you can click Prune now anytime.
