About

Torrent Catcher is a tidy organizer for the magnet and .torrent links you find while browsing. Whether you're tracking the latest Ubuntu or Fedora ISO, exploring datasets from Academic Torrents, browsing Project Gutenberg, or grabbing an indie title from itch.io — Torrent Catcher keeps everything organized in one place.

The popup shows every link found on the active page in a clean list. You decide what to do with them: copy, export to a file, or open them in the torrent client you already have installed.

WHAT IT DOES

• Lists magnet and .torrent links found on the active page in a tidy popup
• Keeps a personal history of links you've collected, with search and filters
• Shows file size, hash, and tracker count when those details are embedded in the link
• Built-in search across legitimate, open sources:
  – Internet Archive (archive.org) — public-domain media, software, books
  – Academic Torrents — datasets, ML training corpora, research papers
  – arXiv — open-access scientific preprints
  – Project Gutenberg — public-domain books
  – Fedora Torrents and LinuxTracker — Linux distributions
  – itch.io — indie games
• Optional broader search across popular torrent indexes (opt-in per click)
• Site filters — whitelist or blacklist specific domains, or filter by keyword
• Statistics — captures over time, top sites, magnet vs .torrent
• Multi-language UI: English, Portuguese (PT-BR), Spanish — switch from the popup

PRIVACY FIRST

Everything stays in your browser. We never collect, transmit, or sell your data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no servers receiving anything. Your link history and stats live in local browser storage only. If you choose, settings (not history) can sync between your own devices through your browser's built-in sync — that data goes only to your browser vendor's account, never to us.

The full privacy policy is bundled inside the extension (Options → Privacy Policy) and is also available as a public link (see the "Privacy Policy URL" field below).

WORKS WITH ANY TORRENT CLIENT

Torrent Catcher does not download anything itself — it just keeps the links organized and hands them off when you click. Use it with any torrent client you already have installed: qBittorrent, Transmission, Deluge, and others. We recommend qBittorrent (qbittorrent.org), a free and open-source client available for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

INSPIRATION

Torrent Catcher's approach — surfacing legitimate sources first, treating links as content to be organized rather than something to download in bulk — was inspired by Stremio (https://www.stremio.com/), a popular media-center app that emphasizes a clean, organized experience around publicly available content. Where Stremio focuses on curated streaming, Torrent Catcher focuses on tidy link management for the files you choose to handle in your own torrent client.
