About

crop is a Chrome extension that helps you precisely select and capture the area you want from the page you are viewing.

Open the selection screen from the extension icon or keyboard shortcut,
then select a page element or draw a custom area and copy or save it as a PNG.

Default shortcut: Ctrl + Shift + S (Windows) | Cmd + Shift + S (macOS)

Main features:
- Point to a page element with your mouse and click to select it.
- Drag to draw a custom capture area.
- Move or resize the selected area before capturing.
- Capture the currently visible screen.
- Capture a full-page screenshot.
- Copy the generated PNG to the clipboard or save it as a downloaded file.

Privacy:
- Screenshots are processed inside your browser.
- crop does not upload screenshots or page data to a server and does not include usage statistics or analytics features.
- Images are sent to the clipboard or saved as downloaded files only when you explicitly choose copy or save.

Current limits:
- Chrome blocks extensions from running on restricted pages such as chrome:// pages and Chrome Web Store pages.
- For security reasons, crop cannot inspect the inside of iframes from other origins or some web components (closed shadow DOM).
- Full-page capture targets the main document of the current page. Very large capture results may be downscaled so they can be saved as a single PNG, and results may not be perfect on pages with content that loads while scrolling, animations, fixed headers or banners, or layout changes.
