About
Resistor helps you build healthier internet habits by creating intentional friction before accessing distracting websites.
HOW IT WORKS:
1. Add websites you tend to visit compulsively (social media, news, etc.)
2. Set daily limits and session durations for each site
3. When you try to visit a restricted site, you must type a reason why
4. This moment of reflection helps you decide if you really want to proceed
5. Sessions are time-limited - tabs close automatically when time expires
FEATURES:
• Smart reason validation powered by AI (rejects gibberish)
• Invisible session timers that run in the background
• Beautiful analytics dashboard to track your usage patterns
• Soft daily limits (shows warnings but never completely blocks)
• Cloud sync across all your Chrome devices
• Privacy-focused: only monitors sites YOU choose to track
PRIVACY & PERMISSIONS:
• Requires Google sign-in for syncing your settings across devices
• We only intercept navigation to websites you explicitly configure
• No browsing history collection beyond your self-selected resistance sites
• All data encrypted in transit and at rest
• Permissions explained:
- "Read browsing history" (webNavigation): Required to intercept navigation to sites you configure as resistances
- "Manage your tabs": Required to close tabs when sessions expire
- "Storage": Required to cache your settings offline
Perfect for anyone who wants less Instagram, Twitter, Reddit, YouTube, or any other distracting website—without losing access entirely. Build better habits through awareness, not punishment.Technical
