About

SUBFROST is a self-custodial Bitcoin wallet for the alkanes metaprotocol, built as a Chrome side-panel extension. Your seed phrase and private keys are generated and stored only on your device — they are never uploaded, escrowed, or shared.

  ── WHAT YOU CAN DO ──

  • Hold Bitcoin and alkanes View BTC and alkane (token / orbital) balances across native segwit and taproot addresses, with full UTXO visibility.

  • Wrap and unwrap frBTC Convert BTC to frBTC and back. frBTC is the wrapped-Bitcoin asset that powers swaps and liquidity on the alkanes AMM.

  • Swap alkanes Trade between BTC, frBTC, alkanes, and pool tokens directly from the wallet, with slippage controls and an on-chain trace simulation before you broadcast.

  • Provide liquidity Supply token pairs to AMM pools to earn fees, and explore vaults.

  • Connect to web apps SUBFROST exposes a provider to websites you visit so alkanes dApps can request your accounts and ask you to sign. Every signature request is surfaced in the side panel for explicit approval — nothing is signed without your confirmation.

  • Send and receive Send BTC and alkanes, scan/show QR codes, and keep an address book of labelled recipients.

  ── SECURITY & CUSTODY ──
  
  • Self-custodial by design. Keys are created on your device and stay there.
  • Optional PIN lock on top of the unlock flow.
  • Export an encrypted JSON keystore, or reveal your recovery phrase, at any time — you are always in control of your backup.
  • Import an existing wallet from a BIP-39 recovery phrase, an encrypted keystore JSON, or a WIF / hex private key.
  • Manage multiple wallets and subaccounts with configurable derivation paths and address types (native segwit, taproot, nested segwit, legacy).

  ── PRIVACY ──

  • No analytics, no crash-reporting, no telemetry. SUBFROST does not call tracking endpoints.
  • Network requests (block heights, balances, AMM quotes, swap broadcasts) are routed through SUBFROST-operated infrastructure over an encrypted connection. The operator sees encrypted frames plus your wallet's public Bitcoin addresses — never your seed, keys, or PIN.
  • dApp connections store only the paired site's origin and a session key, on your device.

  ── NETWORKS ──

  Mainnet for live funds, plus Signet / Regtest / Devnet test networks for development.

  SUBFROST is experimental software for an experimental protocol (alkanes). You are solely responsible for safe-keeping your recovery phrase — if you lose it, your funds cannot be recovered by anyone. Do not use with funds you cannot afford to lose. The software is provided "AS IS", without warranty of any kind.
