Your text has invisible passengers. AI tools and rich-text editors sneak characters into what you copy: zero-width spaces, word joiners, directional marks, even hidden "tag" characters that can smuggle data. And then there's the em dash — the single most AI-looking character in existence.

AI Text Cleaner finds every one of them, tells you exactly what it found (with counts and unicode code points, because receipts matter), and fixes your text where it stands.

WHAT IT DOES

• Clean in place: select text in an email draft or any editable field, right-click → "Clean selection here" — fixed on the spot, with a little sparkle to prove it 
• Your formatting survives: links, bold, styling in the selection are never touched 
• Em dashes become honest punctuation: "word—word" → "word, word" (commas with correct spacing; numeric ranges like 10—12 sensibly become 10-12) 
• Or "Clean & copy selection" to put the cleaned text on your clipboard 
• Or paste into the popup (Alt+Shift+C) for a live report of every hidden character 
• Removes zero-width spaces/joiners, BOMs, soft hyphens — the usual "AI watermarks" 
• Removes hidden tag characters (U+E0000–E007F) that can carry invisible data 
• Removes directional overrides (also used in filename-spoofing attacks) 
• Converts exotic spaces (non-breaking, em/en, ideographic) to plain spaces 
• Optional: smart quotes → straight quotes, ellipsis → "..." (toggle typography fixes off if you actually like em-dashes; we don't judge. Much.)

WHAT IT DOESN'T BREAK

Most cleaners nuke everything and corrupt your text. This one is emoji-aware:

• Family emoji like 👨‍👩‍👧 (secretly built from zero-width joiners) stay intact 
• Keycaps like 1️⃣ and flags like 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 survive • Persian, Arabic and Indic text that legitimately needs joiner characters is left alone.

WHAT IT DOESN'T DO

• No account, no tracking, no analytics, nothing sent anywhere. • All cleaning happens locally in your browser. Your text never leaves your machine. • No host permissions — it can't read pages behind your back.
