  📊 PER-TAB VOLUME — 0% to 600%
  Boost quiet videos, tame loud ads, and fine-tune every tab to the exact level you want. The slider goes all the way to 600% for content that's just too quiet. A max volume cap (default 200%) protects your ears —
  raise it whenever you want.

  🎛️ 5-BAND EQUALIZER
  Real Web Audio API equalizer with five frequency bands:
    • 60 Hz — Bass
    • 250 Hz — Low-Mid
    • 1 kHz — Mid
    • 4 kHz — High-Mid
    • 14 kHz — Treble

  A live frequency-response curve updates as you drag the sliders so you can see exactly what you're shaping. Five one-click presets to get started fast:
    • Flat (default)

  Set YouTube to 80%, Spotify to 120%, your news site to 60% — VolumePro stores your preferences per hostname and restores them automatically every time you visit. No more adjusting the same sites over and over.

  🔇 MUTE ALL TABS INSTANTLY
  One button (or Alt + Shift + A) silences every open tab at once. Hit it again to restore everything. Ideal for urgent calls, meetings, or when you just need immediate quiet.

  🔇 AUTO-MUTE NEW TABS
  Enable this in Settings and every new tab opens silently until you choose to unmute it. Great for power users who open many tabs at once.

  👁️ SEE WHICH TABS ARE PLAYING
  The Tabs panel shows all your open tabs with a live pulsing indicator on any tab that's currently producing audio. Click any tab in the list to jump straight to it.

  🌙 DARK MODE (AND LIGHT MODE)
  VolumePro follows your system preference automatically — pure dark by default, clean light when your OS is in light mode. No settings needed.

  🛡️ MAX VOLUME CAP
  Set a ceiling on how loud any tab can get. The default is 200% — enough for a big boost without risk. Raise it to 600% if you need it, or keep it at 100% for safe listening.

  🏷️ SMART TOOLBAR BADGE
  The extension icon badge always shows you the current tab's state at a glance:
    • 150% (amber) — volume is boosted above normal
    • M (red) — tab is muted
    • ALL (red) — all tabs are muted
    • Empty — volume is at 100%, nothing to report

  🔧 HOW IT WORKS
  ────────────────────────────────────────

  VolumePro uses the Web Audio API to intercept audio at the source — before it reaches your speakers. Every audio and video element on a page is routed through a custom audio graph:

    Media Element → EQ Filter Chain (5 bands) → Gain Node → Output

  This is how volume above 100% is possible (by setting gain above 1.0) and how EQ can apply real frequency shaping — not just a fake visual slider.

  Your settings are stored locally in Chrome's storage. Nothing is sent to any server. VolumePro has no analytics, no tracking, no account required.

  ⚠️ KNOWN LIMITATIONS
  ────────────────────────────────────────

  • DRM-protected content (Netflix, Disney+, Spotify Web Player) uses encrypted media paths that bypass the Web Audio API. Volume and mute still work on these sites, but EQ has no effect on encrypted streams.

  • Cross-origin audio inside iframes (rare) may not respond to EQ due to browser security restrictions. Mute still works in all cases.

  • The Web Audio API requires a user gesture before it can start. On most pages you'll never notice this — VolumePro automatically resumes audio processing as soon as you interact with the page.

  🔒 PERMISSIONS
  ────────────────────────────────────────

  VolumePro requests only what it needs:

  • tabs — to read the current tab's URL (for per-site memory) and mute tabs natively
  • storage — to save your volume, EQ, and settings locally on your device
  • alarms — for internal cleanup of stale tab data
  • notifications — reserved for future update announcements (not currently used)

  No personal data is collected. No data leaves your device.
