EcoPrompt is a Chrome extension that streamlines verbose ChatGPT prompts to their most concise form — saving tokens, speeding up responses, and promoting digital sustainability by showing estimated carbon savings with every optimized prompt.

💡 What It Does
EcoPrompt detects overly wordy prompts in ChatGPT and rewrites them automatically using a curated set of more efficient phrases. You get the same message across — just shorter, smarter, and lighter on computational energy use.

For every prompt you send, EcoPrompt estimates:

🧠 How It Works
You write your prompt in ChatGPT as usual.

You click the “🌱” toggle button in the prompt bar.

This toggle activates Eco Mode and rewrites the prompt using pre-defined token-saving replacements.

You see a clean popup:

A small, draggable plant-stem emoji appears on the right side of the ChatGPT prompt bar.

Click to activate Eco Mode and run optimizations.

Drag and reposition it if it ever gets in your way.

When activated, the extension scans your prompt and replaces long-winded phrases like
“Due to the fact that…” → “Because”
“It is important to note that…” → “Note that”

Shows a side-by-side comparison popup before submitting.

Tracks cumulative token savings and CO₂ impact in milligrams.

Updates in real time each time you submit a rewritten prompt.
