About
Focus4Life — Website Friction gently keeps you off distracting websites while you're in a focus session — without nagging, shaming, or locking you out. It's the browser companion to the Focus4Life focus app. When you start a focus session and a site you've chosen to avoid tries to load, this extension quietly redirects it to a calm "Return to focus" page instead of the distraction. Want in anyway? "Open anyway" is always one click away (after a short pause to reconsider). Friction, not a wall — a nudge back to what you meant to do. HOW IT WORKS • Start a focus session in the Focus4Life app and turn on "Block distracting websites." • Click "Pair browser" — this extension connects on its own. No codes, no account. • During the session, your chosen sites are redirected to a gentle focus page. The moment the session ends, everything returns to normal automatically. WHY IT'S DIFFERENT • A nudge, never a cage. "Open anyway" is always available — gentle friction beats hard blocking for sustained focus. • Calm by design. No streak guilt, no punishment, no dark patterns. • Fails open. If anything's uncertain — the app isn't running, the session ended, a connection drops — the block lifts on its own. You're never stranded. YOUR PRIVACY • No account, no sign-up. • No data collection, no analytics, no tracking. The extension talks to no server of its own. • Your block list comes from your own Focus4Life app over a local, on-device connection and never leaves your device. • It reads no page content and injects no scripts — it only redirects navigations to its own bundled focus page. ABOUT THE "READ AND CHANGE YOUR DATA ON ALL WEBSITES" PERMISSION A website blocker must be able to act on any site you choose to block, so the extension requests access to all sites. It uses this solely to redirect blocked pages to its local focus page — it does not read, store, or transmit anything from the pages you visit. Pairs with the Focus4Life app on macOS, Windows.
