About

──────────────────────────────────────────────────
DESCRIPTION
──────────────────────────────────────────────────

Watch the same Twitch live stream with friends — actually in sync.

Live streams drift. One friend is 3 seconds ahead, another is buffering, and every big moment gets spoiled by whoever's in front. EchoSync fixes that: it measures exactly who's ahead or behind and quietly closes the gap on everyone's own native Twitch player, so reactions land together instead of seconds apart.

No shared screen. No re-streaming. Everyone keeps their own full-quality Twitch stream — EchoSync just keeps them lined up.

━━━━━━━━━━ WHY I MADE THIS ━━━━━━━━━━

Honestly? Pure frustration. My friends and I would get together to watch VCT on GOFNS's channel, but our streams were never quite lined up. OXY would hit some outrageous, clutch shot — and we'd all be reacting seconds apart. One of us would be losing it while another hadn't even seen the play yet. It quietly drained the hype out of the exact moments we'd shown up for. So I built EchoSync to fix it: everyone landed on the same frame, hyping together, the way a watch party is supposed to feel.

━━━━━━━━━━ HOW IT WORKS ━━━━━━━━━━

• One person hosts a free, private sync server (a small app — details below).
• Everyone else installs this extension, pastes the host's link, and clicks Join.
• A tidy overlay appears on the stream showing who's ahead, behind, or in sync — down to a tenth of a second.
• Click “Align everyone” and EchoSync rewinds each player to the same moment. It takes about a second, needs no reload, and it holds.

Ad breaks, buffering, and pauses are detected and ignored, so one person's hiccup never drags the whole room out of sync.

━━━━━━━━━━ GETTING STARTED (watchers) ━━━━━━━━━━

1. Install EchoSync.
2. Open any live stream on twitch.tv.
3. Click the EchoSync icon, choose a nickname, paste the host's link, and hit Join.

That's it — you're watching together. The overlay lives as long as your Twitch tab is open. No account, no sign-up.

━━━━━━━━━━ HOSTING A PARTY (one person does this) ━━━━━━━━━━

Someone needs to run the sync server so friends have a link to join. It's free, it runs on your own PC, and it takes about a minute:

1. Download the host app from GitHub (link below).
2. Open it and click Start.
3. Copy the “Friends paste this link” URL and send it to your friends.
4. On your own hosting PC, use the “On this PC” localhost link instead — it keeps your own stream fast.

To stop the party, just close the app. Nothing is left running.

━━━━━━━━━━ WHY ECHOSYNC ━━━━━━━━━━

• Full quality — everyone watches their own native Twitch stream, not a re-encoded copy.
• Free & open source — no subscriptions, no paywalls.
• No account — nothing to sign up for.
• Your own private server — the party runs on the host's PC, not someone else's cloud.
• Precise — sync is measured continuously and corrected on the real player.

━━━━━━━━━━ PRIVACY ━━━━━━━━━━

• EchoSync only shares nicknames and timing numbers, and only with the party you join.
• No video is ever sent through the server — your stream comes straight from Twitch, as always.
• No ads, no analytics, no tracking.
