About

FadeOut doesn't block distracting sites — it makes them feel worse  through subtle effects.

Instead of a hard block you'll just bypass, FadeOut degrades the experience on sites you want to use less. Colors fade. Videos stutter. Playback slows. A timer reminds you how long you've been there. Over time, your brain starts to associate the site with friction rather than reward — and you leave on your own.

── EIGHT EFFECTS ──

🎨 Color Drain — the page loses color, from faded to full grayscale
⏸ Fake Buffering — videos pause with a loading spinner at random intervals
🐢 Speed Reduction — playback speed creeps down the longer you watch
🌫 Resolution Blur — videos and images are blurred
🔇 Volume Drain — sound fades out and can't be turned back up
⏱ Navigation Cooldown — each click to a new page costs a brief countdown pause
🕐 Time Counter — a quiet timer shows exactly how long you've been on-site
🚫 Tab Block — links that would open another restricted site in a new tab are blocked

All eight are individually toggleable. Intensity is adjustable per-effect.

There are no hardcoded lists. Add any site you want to use less — social media, news, video platforms, anything. Free users can add up to 2 sites. Pro users get unlimited.

FadeOut runs entirely in your browser. Your site list and settings stay in Chrome's own storage — never sent to any server. The only network request is a weekly license check for Pro users. No analytics, no tracking, no ads.
