About
humAIne — make AI-written text sound human again. AI assistants leave fingerprints: em-dashes everywhere, curly quotes, "delve into," "leverage," "in conclusion," perfect Oxford commas, and prose that's just a little too clean. humAIne rewrites pasted or selected text to read like a real person typed it — by reversing those tells and sprinkling in the kind of small, forgivable slips humans actually make. What it does - Replaces em-dashes (—), en-dashes (–), curly "smart" quotes, and the ellipsis character (…) with their plain-keyboard equivalents. - Swaps overused AI vocabulary: delve into → look into, furthermore / moreover / additionally → also, leverage / utilize → use, plethora / myriad → lots of, seamless → smooth, robust → solid. Drops filler like "in conclusion," and "it is important to note that." - Adds light, realistic imperfections: dropped Oxford commas, missing intro commas after However / Therefore / Meanwhile, occasional missing apostrophe in contractions (don't → dont), the odd dropped trailing period. - Optional heavier slips for stronger output: missing space after a comma, lowercase standalone I, occasional typos. - Three presets — Light, Medium, Heavy — plus per-pattern probability sliders for full control. How to use it - Toolbar popup — paste text, click Humanize, copy the result. Optional: auto-paste your clipboard when the popup opens. - Right-click menu — select text on any page and choose "Humanize selection." - Keyboard shortcut — Ctrl+Shift+H (Cmd+Shift+H on Mac) to humanize the current selection. - Paste interception (optional) — paste AI text directly into any textarea, input, or rich editor, and humAIne rewrites it on the way in. Per-domain blocklist supported (e.g. mail.google.com, *.atlassian.net). Privacy - Everything runs locally in your browser. No accounts, no servers, no telemetry, no API keys. Your text never leaves your device. Permissions, briefly - storage — saves your pattern settings and blocklist. - contextMenus — adds the right-click "Humanize selection" item. - activeTab / clipboardRead / clipboardWrite — reads selected text and writes the humanized result back. - offscreen — performs clipboard operations from the service worker. Good for - Polishing ChatGPT / Claude / Gemini drafts before sending them in email, Slack, docs, or social. - Removing obvious AI tells from blog posts and marketing copy. - Anyone who's tired of em-dashes giving the game away. Light, deterministic, fully offline. Open the settings page to tune every pattern individually.
