About

Plot Extractor digitizes plots, graphs, and charts from PDF datasheets and images — entirely inside your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

Engineers, scientists, and analysts often spend hours manually extracting curve data for simulation, curve fitting, and analysis. Plot Extractor automates much of that workflow by making an initial pass at plot detection, axis calibration, tick reading, and curve tracing so you only need to correct what looks wrong.

Features

• Open figures directly from PDF datasheets
• Import common image formats
• Automatically detect plot regions and axis anchors
• Read tick labels from PDF text or local OCR
• Trace curves by color with assisted color selection
• Manually refine points or remove unwanted regions
• Support for linear and log-scale axes
• Export extracted data to CSV or JSON

Privacy

All processing happens locally inside the Chrome extension. PDF parsing, OCR, plot detection, and curve extraction run entirely in your browser. No files are uploaded, and the extension does not collect analytics or transmit document contents.

Typical Workflow

1. Open the extension from the Chrome side panel
2. Load a PDF or image containing a chart
3. Verify the detected plot region and axis anchors
4. Enter reference values for axis calibration
5. Review or adjust the detected curve
6. Export the extracted data

Notes

• Automatic detection works best when axes or borders are visible
• OCR may struggle with crowded labels or low-quality scans
• Dense multi-curve plots may require extracting one curve at a time
• Extracted values are approximations and should be verified before engineering use
