GitHub License Insights is a lightweight, responsive browser extension that helps developers instantly understand software licenses when browsing GitHub repositories.

Features:

Instant DOM scraping of the repository sidebar for zero-delay rendering.
Comprehensive licensing breakdown (Allowed / Prohibited permissions) for standard licenses (MIT, Apache-2.0, GPL, etc.).
Active scanning of license text to highlight complex or custom licensing clauses (like third-party licenses, directory exclusions, or enterprise exceptions).
Caches API fetches using local storage to optimize network traffic and bypass API rate limits.

How to use it:

Install the extension.
Visit any repository page on GitHub.
View the license summary box injected on the right sidebar above the "About" section.
Privacy/permissions: This extension respects your privacy. It does not collect, store, or transmit any user data. All operations, cache stores, and API requests happen entirely locally on your machine.
