About

WaveCraft turns your browser tab into a tiny audio studio. Crank the volume past what your operating system allows, sculpt the sound with a real 10-band equalizer, tame loud movies with Night Mode, and record any tab as a .webm file — all from one popup, all running entirely on your device.

Volume

• 0–1000% gain via the Web Audio GainNode (10× amplification ceiling)
• Mouse-wheel scroll on the slider, drag the thumb, or hit the quick-jump buttons (0 / 100 / 300 / 600 / 1000)
• Visual "hot" warning past 600% — red glow, red slider track, red readout — so you know when you are pushing distortion territory
• Mute toggle from the header or Alt+M
• Stereo Pan from L100 to R100

10-band Parametric Equalizer

• ISO standard centre frequencies: 31, 62, 125, 250, 500, 1k, 2k, 4k, 8k, 16k Hz
• ±12 dB per band, real BiquadFilterNode peaking filters chained in series
• Bypass switch — flip the EQ off without losing your custom curve
• 10 built-in presets: Flat, Rock, Pop, Jazz, Classical, Vocal, Gaming, Movie, Bass, Treble
• Save your own preset, right-click to delete

Dynamics

• Night Mode — aggressive DynamicsCompressor settings tuned for late-night TV (tames loud bursts, lifts quiet dialogue)
• Studio Compressor — gentler settings for general "polish"
• The two are mutually exclusive; tap one to switch

Tab Recorder

• Records the processed audio (post-EQ, post-volume, post-dynamics) of the active tab
• Saves to your Downloads folder as .webm (Opus codec)
• Live timer, accurate even if you close and reopen the popup mid-recording
• Spacebar shortcut while the popup is open

Visualizer

• Real-time dual spectrum analyser — ghost outline of the source signal, bright fill of the processed output
• Shows the tab's actual sample rate

Memory & control

• Per-domain memory — every change (volume, EQ, pan, presets) is saved per hostname and restored automatically the next time you visit that site
• Global keyboard shortcuts: Alt+W (open popup), Alt+M (mute), Alt+↑/↓ (±25%)
• Popup-scoped shortcuts: 0–9 (set volume to N×100%), M (mute), N (Night Mode), C (Compressor), R (reset volume), F (flatten EQ), Space (record start/stop)

UX

• Midnight Aurora dark theme — deep indigo surfaces, electric purple accents, two soft aurora gradients drifting in the background
• Throttled control updates so dragging the slider does not flood the audio engine
• No content scripts, no host permissions — only the tab you explicitly choose

Privacy

WaveCraft runs entirely on your device. No audio, URL, page content, or setting is ever uploaded. Recordings are written straight to your local Downloads folder via chrome.downloads. Settings live in chrome.storage.local. There is no telemetry, no analytics, no ads, and no third-party services involved in the audio path.

It is free and it will be free forever.
