About

Local Vault is an offline-first Chrome extension for people who want to keep a small password vault on their own computer without creating a cloud account.

Each account record can have a title of up to 20 characters, such as "Work GitHub", "Personal Email", or "Family Billing". Multiple accounts under the same website are grouped automatically, so the account rows focus on the title, username, 2FA code, and actions instead of repeating the website URL.

Core features:

Encrypt and store account records locally.
Save account titles, websites / URLs, usernames, passwords, and 2FA Base32 secrets.
Group accounts by website for cleaner multi-account management.
Search by title, account, or website.
Copy usernames, passwords, and 2FA codes with one click.
Export and import encrypted backups.
Import JSON / CSV files.
Keep a short unlocked session for this popup, 5 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, or 60 minutes.
Require an extra confirmation before plaintext export.
Security and privacy:

Data is stored in local extension storage.
The vault is encrypted with a key derived from the master password.
No account registration is required.
Account records, passwords, 2FA secrets, and master passwords are not uploaded.
No ads, analytics SDK, remote logging, or cloud sync are included.
How to use:

Install the extension and open the popup.
Set a master password when creating the vault.
Click "Add" to save an account record.
Browse accounts grouped by website.
Click copy buttons to copy an account, password, or 2FA code.
Export an encrypted backup when you need to move data to another device.
Notes:

If you lose the master password, the encrypted vault cannot be recovered.
Short sessions temporarily keep unlocked data in extension background memory to reduce repeated master password entry. The data is cleared when the session expires or the user exits.
Plaintext export files contain sensitive data. Save them only on trusted devices and clean them up after use.
