Last Tab Keeper protects a small but disruptive browser mistake: closing the last useful tab and losing the whole Chrome window.

When protection is on, the extension watches normal Chrome windows. If a window is down to one useful tab, Last Tab Keeper prepares one pinned Chrome home/new tab at the far left of the tab strip. The pinned tab stays in the background while you keep working. When you open more useful tabs, it is removed again so your tab strip stays clean.

If you close the final useful tab, Chrome stays on its home/new tab page instead of showing an extension page. If the last normal window still closes, Last Tab Keeper opens a Chrome home/new tab window and prepares protection again.

What it helps with:

- Keep a Chrome window available after the last useful tab is closed.
- Show one pinned Chrome home/new tab only when the window needs protection.
- Remove the pinned Keeper automatically when more tabs are open.
- Restore the most recently closed useful tab from the popup.
- Turn protection on or off from the popup.
- Follow Chrome's interface language with English and Simplified Chinese support.

Important limit:

Chrome does not allow extensions to cancel a final tab close or read the user's custom homepage URL. Last Tab Keeper uses Chrome's home/new tab behavior for protection and recovery.

Privacy and permissions:

- tabs: counts tabs in normal windows, creates or removes the pinned Keeper tab, and restores the most recently closed useful tab when requested.
- storage: saves the protection setting, Keeper tab records, simple local counters, and the most recently closed useful tab for restore.
- No host permissions.
- No page content access.
- No analytics or remote tracking.
