About

Trip Mapper is a browser-based tool for planning trips and turning them into clear, shareable maps. You can add stops, connect them with routes, adjust the design, and export the result as an image or embeddable map. There is no account, backend, or tracking.

Planning a trip

Add stops by searching for a place or clicking on the map, then drag them into the order you want.

Routes can be set separately for each segment, with options for driving, walking, cycling, flights, ferries, subways, and trains. Where routing data is available, Trip Mapper follows actual roads and paths.

You can also:

Hide individual routes or show pins only
Drag routes to create curved lines
Change route color, width, and dash style
Add a transport emoji at the midpoint of a route
Select and edit several pins or routes at once
Apply reusable color palettes
Add the same place more than once, with repeated stops marked as “Visit 2,” “Visit 3,” and so on

Labels can include the stop number, place name, date, and notes. Their position and appearance can be adjusted, using either bundled web fonts or fonts installed on your device.

The interface includes light and dark themes, several map styles, and support for custom CSS.

Exporting and sharing

Trips can be exported as JSON files and imported again later. You can also download the current map view as a PNG or copy an iframe snippet for embedding a static or interactive version on another website.

Privacy

Trip Mapper runs entirely in your browser. Trips are stored locally and are not sent to the developer.

The map itself still relies on external services: map tiles, place searches through OpenStreetMap Nominatim, and routes through OSRM are requested directly from those providers. Trip Mapper does not require an account or any special browser permissions.
