Live Classroom Captions turns your voice into real-time on-screen captions with instant translation, so every student in your classroom can follow along — no matter what language they speak at home.
How it works Start captions from the popup and a floating overlay appears on whatever tab you're presenting. As you speak, your words appear as captions in English. Pick one or more student languages (Spanish, Vietnamese, Tagalog, Khmer, and 130+ others supported), and translations appear alongside the English in their own color-coded caption boxes.
Built for real classrooms
* Captions keep running as you switch between tabs — present a Google Doc, a video, a simulation, anything
* Two-way: switch to "student response mode" and the mic listens in the student's language, translating back to English so you can follow along
* Caption boxes are draggable, resizable, and independently styled so you can put them exactly where they don't block your content
* Chemistry vocabulary list lets you correct auto-transcription errors before they reach students (easily adapted for any subject)
Transcript recording Every session is automatically saved as a local transcript. When you're done, connect to Google Drive and the extension saves a formatted Google Doc to your Drive — no Apps Script, no setup, just one click to authorize. The extension can only access files it creates; it never touches the rest of your Drive.
Privacy first Audio is processed entirely in your browser by Chrome's built-in speech recognition — it is never recorded, uploaded, or transmitted by this extension. Only the resulting text is used. See the full privacy policy for details.
