Tab Matters is a keyboard-first productivity extension for Chrome that eliminates the time you waste hunting through open tabs. Build a priority-ordered list of your most-used domains and reach any of them instantly — with a single shortcut, a number key, or one click.

    How it works

Add your key sites (GitHub, Gmail, Notion, Slack…) to a priority list. Press Cmd+Shift+P (Mac) or Ctrl+Shift+P (Windows/Linux) and Tab Matters jumps you to the first open tab that matches, checking your list from top to bottom. No searching. No clicking through a sea of tabs.

    Key Features

    Priority List Navigation
Domains are matched in the order you set, so your most important tab always wins.

    Tab Cycling
Have multiple tabs open for the same domain? Press the shortcut again while already on one to cycle through all of them — round-robin, no state lost.

    Multi Mode — Visual Launcher
Enable Multi Mode to open a panel showing a button for every domain in your list. Each button shows the site's favicon, a live count of matching open tabs ("Gmail (3)"), and the actual page title on hover. No guessing what you're jumping to.

    Keyboard-First Navigation in Multi Mode
Press 1–9 to jump directly to a domain by number. Use ↑ / ↓ + Enter to navigate the list without touching the mouse. The first available button is focused automatically.

    Domain Groups
Organize your domains into named categories — "Work", "Personal", "Research". Groups appear as collapsible sections in the Multi Mode panel so large lists stay manageable.

    Enable / Disable Per Domain
Temporarily pause any domain without deleting it. Disabled domains are skipped in all matching and navigation — ideal for focus sessions when you want to block Slack or social media.

    Open If Not Found
Assign a fallback URL to any domain. If no matching tab is open, Tab Matters opens that URL in a new tab instead of doing nothing.

    Smart URL Matching
Domains are matched by hostname, not substring — "google.com" never accidentally matches "notgoogle.com". Subdomains (www.github.com) are automatically recognized as their parent (github.com).

    Quick-Add from Current Tab
In Multi Mode, add the site you're currently on directly from the panel — no need to open Settings. The domain field is pre-filled automatically.

    Import / Export
Back up your entire domain list as a JSON file and restore it on any machine, or share your setup with a colleague.

    Dark Mode
Toggle dark mode for comfortable use in low-light environments. Your preference syncs across devices.

    Cross-Device Sync
Your domain list, groups, and preferences sync automatically through Chrome Sync — same setup on every machine.
