AIWarden Companion is the browser extension for AIWarden, a privacy tool that helps keep sensitive information out of AI chat interfaces such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, Perplexity, and similar AI tools.

The extension connects supported AI chat pages in Chrome-based browsers to the AIWarden desktop app running locally on your own computer.

What it does:
- Detects when you are using a supported AI chat site.
- Sends the active AI chat URL, page title, and model hint to the local AIWarden desktop app.
- Helps AIWarden scan chat composer text so it can warn, block, or replace sensitive values before they are submitted.
- Helps AIWarden scan selected, dropped, or pasted attachments so files can be scrubbed before submission.
- Supports custom terms, PII detection, synthetic replacement, and local audit history through the desktop app.

What it does not do:
- It does not send prompt text, attachment contents, audit details, or usage data to OverallWorks servers.
- It does not use analytics, advertising, retargeting, or third-party tracking.
- It does not read cookies, local storage, authentication tokens, or unrelated browser history.
- It does not activate outside the allowlist of supported AI chat interfaces.

All extension communication goes to 127.0.0.1 on ports 48421-48430. That is the AIWarden desktop app listening locally on the user's own machine.
