WHAT TRAWL DOES

Trawl is a complete email intelligence pipeline built into a single Chrome extension. It extracts email addresses from web pages, validates them with real MX record checks, discovers new contacts through pattern generation, and exports everything in multiple formats — all without sending your data to any external server.


KEY FEATURES

- Multi-layer email extraction — Finds emails hidden behind obfuscation ([at], {dot}), HTML entities, mailto links, JSON-LD structured data, and data attributes. Filters out false positives like image filenames automatically.

- MX record validation — Verifies every email address against real DNS records using DNS-over-HTTPS. Detects disposable domains (43+ providers). Assigns a confidence score from 0 to 100 for each address.

- Email discovery — Generates candidate email addresses from a person's name using 7 common patterns (first.last@, flast@, and more). Produces 14 standard role addresses (info@, support@, careers@). Fetches public commit emails from GitHub.

- Smart export — CSV with formula injection protection, JSON, vCard, and clipboard copy. One-click compose links for Gmail and Outlook. Download any format directly from the popup or dashboard.

- Full dashboard — Search, filter by domain or type, bulk operations, tagging, notes, starring, and scan history. Manage your contacts like a CRM — without the CRM.

- Auto-scan — Extracts emails automatically as you browse. Set domain allowlists and blocklists. Badge counter shows discovered emails per page.

- Page intelligence — Classifies pages by type (company, blog, directory, e-commerce, personal, government, education). Extracts social links from 6 platforms. Performs RDAP/WHOIS domain lookups for registrar, creation date, and expiry.

- Phone numbers and social profiles — Extracts phone numbers and social media URLs alongside email addresses.

HOW IT WORKS

2. Click the Trawl icon or press Alt+E
3. Trawl scans the page and extracts all email addresses
4. Each address is validated with MX record checks and scored 0-100
5. Export to CSV, JSON, vCard, or compose directly in Gmail/Outlook

You can also right-click selected text to extract emails, or enable auto-scan to extract from every page you visit.

The only external network requests Trawl makes are:
- DNS-over-HTTPS queries (Cloudflare/Google) for MX record validation
