About
Road Hazard Wallboard turns official NOAA forecasts into a clear, at-a-glance board of the weather hazards that actually matter to high-profile vehicles — semi-trucks, tractor-trailers, buses, and RVs. It reads the National Weather Service's Weather Prediction Center discussions and the live NWS active-alerts feed, then organizes what it finds into 16 U.S. regions so a dispatcher or driver can scan the whole country in seconds. WHAT IT SHOWS • Severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, and large hail • Flash flooding and heavy rain that can cover roadways • Heavy snow, ice, and freezing rain • Blowing snow, blowing dust, and dense fog • Damaging winds strong enough to push or overturn trailers • Dangerous heat, sourced from live NWS heat warnings and advisories BUILT FOR DRIVERS • Full-tab wallboard with color-coded severity for every region • Compact toolbar popup for a quick glance • One-click bulletin export in rich text, plain text, or Markdown — paste straight into email, dispatch software, or a message • Driver-specific guidance for each hazard (traction, visibility, trailer stability, tire and engine strain in extreme heat, and more) • Auto-refreshes on a schedule you choose ACCURATE AND TRANSPARENT • Reads official NOAA/NWS text and alerts — no AI guessing, no invented forecasts • Every hazard on the board links back to the exact source sentence it came from • Detects "stale" forecasts and refuses to show out-of-date data as current • Translates technical forecast jargon into plain driving-impact language PRIVATE BY DESIGN • No account, no sign-in, no tracking, no ads • Nothing you do is collected or sent anywhere except the requests to NOAA and the NWS that fetch the forecast itself • All settings stay on your own device CUSTOMIZE IT • Choose which heat alert levels appear (advisory / watch / warning) • Filter to the next 1–2 days or the full outlook • Tune region grouping, wind threshold, refresh rate, and more • Hide quiet regions to see only where hazards are active Data comes from the NOAA Weather Prediction Center (weather.gov/wpc) and the National Weather Service active-alerts API (api.weather.gov). This extension is an independent tool and is not affiliated with or endorsed by NOAA or the National Weather Service.
