About

LinkLens shows you a tooltip the moment you hover over any link — telling you exactly how long an article takes to read, how complex the writing is, and what type of content it is. No more clicking into a 20-minute technical paper when you only have 2 minutes. No more surprise opinion pieces disguised as news.
⏱️ Read Time
Estimated based on your personal reading speed, which you can set in settings. Ranges from "< 1 min read" to "32 min read" depending on the article length.
🧠 Complexity Score
Four levels — Easy Read, Moderate, Complex, and Very Complex — based on the actual language and sentence structure of the article. Helps you decide if you're in the right headspace for a dense read.
📄 Content Type
Automatically detects whether a page is a News Article, Opinion/Editorial, How-To Guide, Research Report, Review/Comparison, or general Article — so you always know what you're getting into.
📊 Word Count
See the raw word count so you can judge length for yourself.
Works everywhere
LinkLens works on Google Search results, Reddit, Twitter, news sites, blogs, Wikipedia, and most standard websites. For sites that load content via JavaScript (like some paywalled publications), it uses available metadata to provide an estimate.
Smart site detection
For YouTube, Vimeo, TikTok, Reddit threads, GitHub repos, and other non-article pages, LinkLens shows a helpful message explaining why read time doesn't apply — instead of a confusing error.
Fully customizable
Open settings to adjust your hover delay, set your exact reading speed in words per minute, and choose exactly which information appears in the tooltip.
Your privacy is protected
LinkLens does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. No account required. No tracking. No analytics. Your settings are stored locally in your browser. See our full privacy policy for details.
