About

Carrel clips full articles into Notion — and never truncates them.

Carrel is a local-first web clipper for researchers and anyone who saves a lot of reading into Notion. It pulls the real article out of a cluttered page, sends the whole thing to your Notion database, and lets you set properties before you save — so clips arrive organized instead of becoming a pile you clean up later.

Long pieces stay whole. Carrel handles Notion's block and rich-text limits internally, so a 10,000-word article lands complete instead of cut off partway through.

What it does:
- Captures the full article, stripped of nav, ads, and sidebars — or clips just your current selection
- Sends clips to any Notion database you connect
- Reads your database's own properties and lets you fill them in before saving: tags (multi-select), a status or select value, the source URL, and the capture date
- Records the source link and capture time, so every clip is traceable
- Quick-clip shortcut sends the current page straight to your default database (Ctrl+Shift+S)

Works offline:
Clip on a plane or off the grid. Carrel queues clips locally and syncs them to Notion automatically when you reconnect, retrying transient failures on its own. A badge shows how many clips are waiting.

Local-first and private:
Carrel reads a page only when you ask it to clip, and it talks to nothing but the Notion API — no Carrel account, no third-party server in between. Your clips go from the page to your Notion workspace and nowhere else. Full privacy policy: https://artsci00.github.io/carrel/privacy.html
