About

AI Paper Reviewer integrates directly into Overleaf and gives you expert-level peer review feedback on your academic paper — before you submit.

HOW IT WORKS
Open your paper in Overleaf through BILBARS (Bilkent Based Academic Review System). The extension adds two buttons to your Overleaf toolbar:

• Generate New AI Review — sends your LaTeX source to an AI backend that reviews it sentence by sentence and returns inline comments pinned to specific lines in your editor.
• View Previous AI Review — loads the last cached review for this paper instantly, without re-running the model.

WHAT IT CHECKS
The AI reviews your paper with the rigor of a senior program committee member:
- Unsupported claims and missing citations
- Vague language ("many", "significant", "often") that should be quantified
- Double-blind anonymity violations (author names, self-references, identifying URLs)
- Conference-specific formatting requirements (ACM, IEEE, etc.)
- Methodology gaps: missing baselines, threats to validity, unclear experimental setup
- Writing quality: grammar, wordiness, passive voice overuse
- Missing replication packages or data availability statements

SEVERITY LEVELS
Each comment is classified as:
🔴 Error — must fix before submission (desk-rejection risk)
🟡 Warning — significant weakness reviewers will penalize
🔵 Suggestion — polish to improve clarity

PRECHECK
When opened from BILBARS, the extension also runs a Precheck: it verifies page count, abstract word count, required sections, and other conference submission requirements — before you even submit.

REQUIREMENTS
• An active BILBARS account
• The paper must be open in Overleaf
• Venue and track information is passed automatically from the BILBARS
