Changelog
- Jun 17, 2026description
Kick Chat Translator translates chat messages on Kick.com into your language as they arrive. On-device first: Uses Chrome’s built-in Translator API (Chromium 138+): unlimited, instant, fully local, and nothing leaves your device. Requires a one-time language model download (one click). Cloud fallback: For browsers without the on-device API (e.g. Brave) or for language pairs that aren't available locally: DeepL (bring your own free API key), Google, MyMemory, and Lingva. Services are tried automatically in order with failover. Built for busy chats: Request coalescing, batching, an LRU + IndexedDB cache, and per-channel rate limiting keep translations fast while reducing provider load. Filters out noise: Skips emotes, emoji spam, laughter (kkkk, jaja, lol), and common streaming slang, translating only meaningful chat messages. Resource-efficient: Automatically pauses in background tabs, preventing unnecessary processing or API usage when you're not watching. No account required. No tracking. No telemetry. Open-source (MIT licensed).
You watch international streams. Chat flies by in five languages. This extension translates all of it into yours, live, as messages arrive. Type a reply and it goes out in the channel's language. Both directions, fully automatic. On-device translation first (Chrome Translator API, Chromium 138+): local neural models, zero network calls, unlimited usage, nothing leaves your browser. One-time model download per language pair. Browsers without the on-device API fall back to a four-engine cloud chain: DeepL, Google Translate, MyMemory, and Lingva, tried in priority order with automatic failover and exponential backoff. Built on a WebSocket-first pipeline (Kick Pusher events, DOM observer fallback). Chat is parsed before translation: emotes, emoji floods, laughter patterns (kkkk, jaja, www), mentions, and URLs are stripped so only meaningful text hits the provider. An IndexedDB + in-memory LRU cache eliminates duplicate calls; per-channel token-bucket rate limiting protects quotas on fast chats. Background tabs pause automatically. Compose mode detects the channel's broadcast language from Kick's API and renders a live preview above the chat box. DeepL requests carry recent channel context for register-aware output (keigo for Japanese, formal for European languages). Click or Ctrl+Enter to insert. 31 languages including RTL (Arabic, Hebrew, Persian) and regional variants (pt-BR, zh-TW). No account. No tracking. No telemetry. No server. Open-source, MIT licensed.
