Bookmark Tab Grouper is a lightweight, local-first extension that helps you organize bookmarks and browser tabs into clean Chrome Tab Groups.

Main features:

1-Click Bookmark Grouping
Select a bookmark folder, then open and group all valid links inside it. Subfolders become separate, color-coded tab groups.

Group Tabs by Website
Automatically group currently open ungrouped tabs by website/domain, such as GitHub, Google, YouTube, or your work tools.

Undo Grouping
If you group tabs by website and change your mind, you can undo the grouping action.

Export and Import Sessions
Save your current browser workspace as an offline .btg file, including windows, tabs, tab groups, group names, group colors, and active-tab information. Import the file later to restore your workspace.

Local-First Privacy
Bookmark Tab Grouper does not use analytics, tracking, ads, affiliate links, external APIs, or remote servers. Bookmark data, tab URLs, tab groups, and session files are processed locally in your browser.

User-Controlled Import
Imported session files are validated and shown in a confirmation summary before tabs are opened.

Permissions are used only for core features:

bookmarks: read bookmark folders and URLs selected by the user.
tabs: create tabs, inspect current tab URLs for grouping/export, and restore imported sessions.
tabGroups: create, name, color, collapse, and ungroup Chrome tab groups.
storage: save local language and theme preferences.
downloads: save a user-requested .btg session export file.
